DAGENS KEYNOTE: JOANNE LOEWY

Joanne Loewy DA, LCAT, MT-BC er direktør for the Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine, og Associate Professor ved Icahn School of Medicine på Mount Sinai.

Joanne har publisert flere artikler om sin forskning blant annet på smerte, kartlegging, astma og NICU musikkterapi. Hun har også holdt kurs i NICU for musikkterapeuter i Norge. Joanne er også Editor in Chief for det internasjonale fagtidsskriftet ”Music and Medicin”.

Joanne skal i dag holde sin keynote ”Music in Medicin – Building Bridges in Team Centered Care”:

Music psychotherapy in medicine addresses physical symptoms in a holistic way that involves integration of the body, mind and spirit. Orchestrating a treatment plan where all team members are considered essential, in a growing community contextleads to growth and possibility. In music therapy we can customize care, particularly when a patient-centered culture is provided by research inclusion, music environmental play and caring for the caregiver music options. Music in medical communities enhances treatment possibilities while strengthening or softening with transparency, experiences that will unite the patient, family and community's capacity to heal and integrate care.
